💕 The Heart Behind Pawsome Pair
What began as an unexpected bond between me — a self-proclaimed “non-dog person” — and a traumatized rescue pup has blossomed into Pawsome Pair, a platform changing lives for both people and their dogs.
I created Pawsome Pair to connect dog lovers while honoring the memory of Duncan, a Labrador-beagle mix whose resilience and gentle spirit inspired my mission of second chances.
🐾 How It All Began
In July 2018, I met Duncan at a local animal shelter. He sat quietly among the barking, tail-wagging dogs desperate for attention. He barked once, then lay down — his eyes reflecting a lifetime of hardship.
Duncan was one of 19 “royalty dogs” rescued from a heartbreaking abuse case that claimed five lives and left 32 animals in desperate need of care.
I wasn’t looking for a dog that day — but Duncan found me.
💔 A Journey of Healing
Duncan carried deep scars, porcupine quills, and old bite marks — reminders of his struggle to survive. The shelter explained he had likely spent his first two years alone, unattended, and forgotten.
At first, he didn’t know how to be a pet. He hid food, ran away, and didn’t know how to play. But with patience, love, and time, he learned to trust again.
And as Duncan healed, so did I.
He taught me about resilience, courage, and the power of unconditional love.
